It didn't take long for the Avalanche to get bit by the injury bug.
Forward Steve Downie tore the ACL in his right knee and will be lost for the rest of the season.
Downie was injured during the second period Tuesday against Los Angeles. He was trying to deliver a hit on Kings defenseman Davis Drewiske and fell awkward onto the ice.
Downie had one assist and six penalty minutes prior to being injured.
To make up for the injury, the Avalanche recalled forward Ben Wilson from Lake Erie. It is expected that Chuck Kobasew, who is recently getting over the flu, will draw into the lineup tomorrow night against Columbus.
