With the KHL All star game coming up Jan. 13, the starters have been named and one of them is Avalanche player and current Lokomotiv goalie Semyon Varlamov.
He was able to edge out Pekka Rinne of Dinamo Minsk by only 140 votes. Varly earned 26,344 votes.
He leads the league in goals against average (1.63) and save percentage ( .951). So, he is definitely worthy of earning the starting nod.
In front him for the Western conference on defense will be Zdeno Chara and Alexander Ryazantsev. The forwards will Pavel Datsyuk, Alexander Ovechkin and Ilya Kovalchuk.
The all star game will be played in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
