Thans to the lockout, Matt Duchene is starting to fill up his passport.
The Avalanche forward has signed to play for HC Ambri-Piotta of the Swiss National League A. His contract is good until Dec. 31, 2012, after which the club can extend the deal to the end of the season. Everything is lockout permitting.
Duchene will be arriving in Switzerland Monday, with his earliest game coming Tuesday, Dec. 18 at Langnau. He will join current NHLer Cory Schneider (Vancouver) on the 11th place team in the league.
Prior to joining Ambri-Piotta, Duchene suited up in 17 games for the Frolunda Indians in Sweden. He scored three goals and totaled 13 points while having a plus/minus of +10.
