After an injury plagued 2011-12 season, in which he played in only 58 games, Avalanche forward Matt Duchene has been dishing the pucks out left and right during the lockout for the Frolunda Indians.
Playing on a line with former NHLers P.J. Axelsson and Fabien Brunnstrom, Duchene is currently second on the team with 10 assists in only 15 games. His 12 points puts him tied for second on the team.
Last season, he only totaled 14 goals and 14 assists for 28 points, which was a big reason why the Avs missed the playoffs for the third time in four years. Also, he had a plus/minus of -11. With the Indians, he is a +8.
He has had success while playing left wing, not his customary center spot. His best game this season was against Skelleftea on Nov. 29. In a 3-1 victory, he was apart of all three goals, scoring once and assisting on the other two. Three other times he has notched two helpers.
The next game for Duchene and Frolunda is Dec. 1, when Brynas comes calling to the Scandinavium arena.
