After being down going into the third period, Denver (8-7-1) was able to tie it up and score on its first three attempts in the shootout for a 2-1 win over Rapid City (8-6-3).
Forward Jamie McQueen netted the game winner in the shootout. Luke Fulghum and Gabe Gauthier also scored. Kieran Millan stopped all three Rush shooters to earn the victory for the Cutthroats.
It was the third straight night both teams played past overtime. The Rush won Friday 3-2 in Rapid City and Denver won Saturday 4-3 at the Denver Coliseum.
Scott Brannon started the scoring in the second period for the Rush with a even-strength goal at 4:22.
At 5:55 of the third period, Avalanche prospect and Denver defenseman Gabriel Beaupre with a powerplay goal. Brad Smyth and Brett Lutes assisted on the tying goal.
Both teams managed three shots in overtime, neither team scoring. The win pushed Denver's home record to 7-3-0.
